Counseling services use therapeutic techniques to address personal, family, situational, or other challenges. The goal of counseling is to enhance individual or family functioning, improve the client's circumstances, and facilitate a positive resolution to the problem at hand.

Counseling vs. Therapy
 
While the terms "counseling" and "therapy" have different meanings, they are often used interchangeably. Both involve working with a trained, licensed professional who is authorized by the state to provide support. These professionals are equipped to help individuals lead healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.

What does a therapy session look like?
​
Therapy is personalized, so it can vary based on the individual and their specific situation. You’ll meet with a therapist, either one-on-one or with family members, to work through the challenges you're facing. Each session typically lasts about 50 to 55 minutes.

Do I have to be "sick" or "disturbed" to see a therapist?
​
No.  While some of our clients do face severe emotional challenges, many come to us to work through everyday struggles, such as overcoming a period of depression, improving stress management skills, or dealing with life changes such as divorce. Our therapists support a wide range of clients with varying needs and goals. In fact, many of our clients are high-achievers who are generally healthy but seek guidance on specific personal goals, such as managing anxiety in tough or new situations, achieving a better work-life balance, strengthening relationships, parenting more effectively, or addressing behavioral concerns in children.
